Important Issues Facing Media Counsel

The Financial Times in partnership with Linklaters has planned a general counsel breakfast briefing titled Strategies for Growth in the Face of Audience Fragmentation to take place on Thursday, September 18 from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at Le Parker Meridien, 119 West 56th Street, New York City.

Today's media legal counsel face unprecedented challenges as globalization and the digital age have dramatically changed how and where information and media content is created, distributed and consumed. General counsel are playing an increasingly active role in their companies' efforts in negotiating strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and offering advice on distribution, license and supply agreements. This breakfast briefing will highlight the nature of these transactions and the protection and monetization of content for both online and traditional media on the international stage.

To debate these issues will be Roger Baron, partner, Linklaters; Michael Fricklas, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary, Viacom; Geoffrey Sands, head of Global Media, Entertainment and Information Practice, McKinsey & Co.
