JAMS announces the addition of Howard A. Herman, Esq., to its panel. Mr. Herman joins JAMS after leading the highly regarded ADR program of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco for more than 23 years.
Mr. Herman has worked as a mediator, mediation trainer and developer of ADR programs since 1985. He has mediated thousands of disputes covering a wide range of case types. He specializes in matters involving high emotion and complex power dynamics.
Based in the San Francisco Resolution Center, Mr. Herman will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, special master/referee and neutral evaluator in a variety of disputes, including employment, business and commercial, civil rights, ADA access, insurance, environmental, copyright, trademark and personal injury.
Mr. Herman began his ADR career at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where he explored the benefits of appellate mediation. He then served as the first director of ADR programs at the Contra Costa (County) Superior Court before moving to the Northern District.
Mr. Herman received an A.B., with high honors, from the University of California, Berkeley and his J.D., from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
