Preserving Intellectual Property Rights in Government Contracts: A Beginner's Guide is the title of a CLE seminar planned for this month by the DC Bar Association.

The program will take place on Monday, September 25 from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.

Designed with the needs of both the IP and government practitioner in mind, this introductory course will provide information attorneys need to preserve and protect their clients' IP interests in the government contract setting.

Faculty will cover many aspects of IP rights to include an overview of the types of intellectual property that may be affected by a government contract; important government contract concepts that IP practitioners need to understand; strategies for preserving intellectual property rights in the government contract context, and remedies that are available against the government in cases of misuse.

Speakers will include David S. Bloch, McDermott Will & Emery; Richard M. Gray, Air Force Office of the General Counsel, and James G. McEwen and Michael D. Stein, Stein McEwen & Bui LLP.
