JAMS welcomes Hon. Peggy A. Leen (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Leen joins JAMS after serving more than 18 years as a United States magistrate judge in the District of Nevada, where magistrate judges are utilized to the full extent of their jurisdictional authority. Magistrate judges in the District of Nevada conduct 100% of the district’s ADR, and as a result, Judge Leen has conducted more than 900 settlement conferences and early neutral evaluations in the last 18 years, settling hundreds of cases.
Based in the Las Vegas Resolution Center, Judge Leen will serve as a mediator, arbitrator, special master and neutral evaluator in a variety of practice areas, including business/commercial, civil rights, employment, health care, insurance, intellectual property, personal injury/torts and professional liability.
“Judge Leen is known for her thorough preparation, candor and ability to firmly grasp and understand the complexities and legal issues surrounding each case,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “She brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to the JAMS panel, and we’re thrilled she is joining us.”
Before appointment to the bench, Judge Leen was a trial lawyer for more than 20 years, litigating both civil and criminal cases. As a civil trial lawyer, she litigated primarily multi-party, complex litigation, including construction, product liability, mass disaster, toxic tort/PCB, nuclear radiation, employment, insurance/insurance bad faith, eminent domain, malpractice and commercial/business matters.
“I am looking forward to applying the skills that I’ve developed as a settlement judge and mediator to this new role as a neutral at JAMS,” Judge Leen said. “This feels like a natural progression of my career, and I am focused on and passionate about helping parties successfully resolve their disputes.”
