The New York County Lawyers’ Association’s (NYCLA) Federal Courts Committee recognized Hon. John F. Keenan, judge, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, by presenting him with NYCLA’s Edward Weinfeld Award at the annual Luncheon Honoring the federal courts.

The award was presented by Hon. Kevin Thomas Duffy, judge, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The Edward Weinfeld Award acknowledges distinguished contributions to the administration of justice and is named for Hon. Edward Weinfeld (1901-1988). Judge Weinfeld served as a district judge for the Southern District of New York for nearly 40 years and was the oldest active district judge in the United States at the time of his death. Judge Weinfeld was known for his dedication and fairness of such a high order that he became a legend in legal circles. The Edward Weinfeld Award is presented each year to a member of the bench or bar who has made distinguished contributions to the administration of justice. Hon. Denny Chin, circuit judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, received the award in 2010.

Hon. John F. Keenan was appointed United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York in 1983.
