Hon. Cara C. Wood (Ret.) joins JAMS in Houston

JAMS announces the addition of Hon. Cara C. Wood (Ret.) to its panel. Prior to joining JAMS, Judge Wood served for more than 12 years as district judge of the 284th District Court in Montgomery County, Texas.

Based in the Houston Resolution Center, Judge Wood will serve as an arbitrator and mediator, handling disputes in business and commercial, construction, employment, energy and utilities, financial markets, insurance and real property.

Prior to taking the bench, Judge Wood represented Montgomery County in civil litigation as an assistant county attorney. She also served as an assistant district attorney for Montgomery County, where she exclusively heard felony drug cases. Before her time working in government, Judge Wood was an investment advisor, where she worked with corporate entities on financial and business succession planning, and she was also an attorney with Coker & Wood, P.C

Judge Wood was an early supporter of ADR. In 1988, she was instrumental in the creation of the Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County, a nonprofit, volunteer organization that provides mediation and conflict resolution training to residents, businesses, agencies and the courts.

Judge Wood received her B.A. from Texas Tech University and her J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law.
