NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation), one of the nation's leading providers of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services, is pleased to announce the addition of the Honorable Richard T. Andrias and Honorable David B. Saxe to its highly regarded New York Metro roster of neutrals.
Both Judge Andrias and Judge Saxe come to NAM from the prestigious New York State Appellate Division, First Department, each having remarkable careers as both a judge and a litigator.
During his distinguished 35 years in the judiciary, Judge Andrias spent more than a decade as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court presiding over numerous motions, hearings, jury trials and bench trials. During that time, he oversaw a wide variety of matters that include complex commercial, construction, corporate, matrimonial and real estate disputes. Prior to his time on the bench, as a litigator, he successfully represented clients with a focus on corporate and commercial litigation matters. He was also a trial lawyer for the Legal Aid Society.
Justice Andrias is an avid supporter of ADR and is an extremely skilled mediator with the aptitude to handle all matter of case types, from the simplest to the most complex of legal issues. He is well known for his fair and unbiased manner and respected for his legal acumen and superior settlement skills, and as such, is well suited for his role as an arbitrator and mediator in the private ADR forum.
The Honorable David B. Saxe longstanding legal career includes serving as Associate Justice, New York State Appellate Division, First Department, for almost 20 years and is one of the most honored and respected members of the legal community.
After his many years on the bench, Justice Saxe brings unparalleled judicial insight, wisdom and experience on a variety of matters as a neutral to NAM (National Arbitrator and Mediation).
As an appellate judge he presided over a wide range of matters that included contract issues, corporate finance, insurance/reinsurance matters, business torts, construction, product liability, intellectual property, real property, land use and zoning, labor and employment, medical malpractices and matrimonial and family law disputes. Further, Judge Saxe is considered to be one of the most prolific and frequently cited Judge’s in
the state Judiciary and has authored more than 900 decisions throughout his career. Prior to his time spent on the bench, Judge Saxe served as the Consumer Advocate Director of Law Enforcement for the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs. As a litigator, he successfully represented clients in the laws involving cooperatives and condominium law.
Justice Saxe has been involved in all manner of negotiations, disputes and legal proceedings. As a neutral, the depth and breath of his experience as a jurist and before that as a seasoned attorney, allows him to provide deep, impartial and meaningful solutions. He is known for his ability to clearly identify the problem at hand and move cases toward resolution.
