Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati announced that Hershel Wein has joined the firm's energy and infrastructure practice as a partner in the New York office. He will also be a member of the firm's structured finance practices.
Wein’s past experience includes advising clients on the tax aspects of transactions involving partnerships, real estate investment trusts (REITs), and other pass-through entities. He has also advised clients on numerous tax credit and alternative energy transactions; project finance transactions; real estate transactions; corporate joint ventures; partnership and corporate restructurings and workouts; and cross-border financings and investments. Wein also advises financial institutions in structuring and implementing structured finance and derivatives transactions, pension funds, and other tax-exempt entities in their investment activities, as well as sponsors of, and investors in, all types of private investment vehicles.
Before joining WSGR and since 2012, Wein was a principal in the Washington National Tax practice of KPMG LLP, in its New York office. Prior to joining KPMG, he worked at a large New York-based law firm for more than 26 years, starting as an associate in its predecessor firm. He became a tax partner in 1995.
