Hedge Funds Focus In Live Broadcast From Practising Law Institute

On Monday, November 24, The Practising Law Institute will broadcast their live New York City program, Hedge Fund Enforcement And Regulatory Developments 2008, to two Pennsylvania locations. In Philadelphia the seminar will be simulcast to the CLE Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, Suite 1010, and in Pittsburgh the broadcast will be to the PBI Professional Development Conference Center, Heinz 57 Center, 339 Sixth Avenue. The program will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m.

With assets under management worldwide approaching $3 trillion, hedge funds and their advisers are under increasing scrutiny by the SEC, FSA and other regulators. Issues surrounding enforcement and regulatory compliance in the hedge fund space are more important than ever before.

Attendees of this timely presentation will explore current SEC, FSA and SRO hedge fund enforcement and examination priorities; gain perspectives on the newly proposed rule against naked short selling and amendments to Regulation SHO; discuss strategies to protect against problematic insider trading and rumor mongering in the hedge fund environment; learn practical approaches to conducting an effective compliance program; and gain insight into the future landscape of hedge fund regulation.

Also to be reviewed are changes being made to the SEC's August 2007 "pilot" hedge fund examination letter that caused so much concern in the industry, and how to deal with and manage the risks inherent in wearing multiple hats, particularly for smaller hedge fund advisers.

Faculty for the program, which was planned by Barry R. Goldsmith, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, includes Barry R. Barbash, Wilkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Thomas A. Biolisi, Associate Regional Director, SEC; Colleen P. Mahoney, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP; Alexandra Poe, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP; Audrey Strauss, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP; Perrie M. Weiner, DLA Piper US LLP; and Ronald E. Wood, Proskauer Rose LLP.
