Akin Gump announced that Angela B. Styles has joined the firm as a partner in its government contracts practice. With a practice spanning nearly 25 years, Ms. Styles is among the most prominent government contracts lawyers in the United States.
From the departments of Defense, Energy, Interior, Homeland Security and Veteran Affairs to the General Services Administration (GSA), Ms. Styles has assisted leading government contractors with a wide range of issues, including suspension and debarment, procurement integrity, civil false claims, the Anti-Kickback Act, schedule contracting, leasing, complex internal investigations, intellectual property and the Buy American and Trade Agreements acts. Ms. Styles also works extensively with universities and clients within the National Lab Complex.
About Angela Styles
Ms. Styles joined Bracewell in 2017 after a decade at Crowell & Moring, where she chaired the firm’s government contracts practice and served as firm chair.
Prior to that, she was a partner at Miller & Chevalier. She served during the George W. Bush presidency as Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy within the Office of Management and Budget, a position that required Senate confirmation, and in the GSA’s Public Buildings Service.
Ms. Styles has testified about complex federal procurement issues at more than 30 congressional hearings, including before the Senate Armed Services, Senate Government Affairs, House Armed Services, House Veterans’ Affairs, House Small Business and House Government Reform committees. For eight years, she also served in the role of executive director of the Defense Industry Initiative on Business Ethics and Conduct.
Ms. Styles sits on the board of governors of UChicago Argonne, LLC, where she chairs the audit committee, and the board of directors of the Texas Historical Foundation and the Das Leben Foundation. She also serves as a Champion at the Center for Women in Law.
