Governance Of Nonprofits: Focus Of Texas Seminar

The State Bar of Texas has scheduled a Governance of Nonprofit Organizations Course for Thursday and Friday, August 19 and 20, at the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol in Austin.

It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Friday.

Thursday will include a Director's Handbook and Orientation by Shannon G. Guthrie, K&L Gates LLP; Directors and Officers Insurance Coverage with Ernest Martin, Haynes and Boone, LLP; Business Organizations' Code with William H. Caudill, Fulbright & Jaworski; and Transactions between Nonprofit and For-Profit Organizations with Terri Lynn Helge, associate professor, Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. At 5:15 p.m. after a Q&A session, attendees will adjourn to a reception.

Friday's topics will include Waking Up a Failing Nonprofit Organization, Issues Facing Faith-Based Organizations and Legal Audits of Nonprofit Organizations. A panel will present When the AG Calls and includes Susan K. Staricka and Mary Taylor Henderson, Office of the Attorney General, and Jeffrey T. Knebel, Osborne, Helman, Knebel & Deleery, L.L.P.
