The Los Angeles County Bar Association will offer a full-day seminar, the 25th Annual Environmental Law Super Symposium: The Greening of California - Achieving Green Goals in a Time of Limited Financial Resources, on Thursday, April 28.
It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel, 251 South Olive Street in Los Angeles.
As California tightens its belt to deal with serious fiscal issues, the need for environmental protection and enforcement continues. This program will feature top practitioners from agencies, state government and private practice discussing recent trends and developments in environmental law, and it will feature thought-provoking discussions about achieving a balance between growing the economy, fiscal restraint and environmental protection.
The panel discussions will cover the recent passage of Proposition 26 and its impact on agencies' ability to pay for their environmental enforcement activities; the environmental priorities of the Brown administration; the tension between CEQA and the permitting of green energy and redevelopment projects; strategies for regulating greenhouse gases on the state and federal level; strategies for prosecuting and defending environmental enforcement cases on the local, state and federal level; and an update on developments in green chemistry regulation and remedial green technologies.
