Baker Botts L.L.P. announces that Frank X. Schoen has joined its New York office as a partner in the Global Projects Department.
Schoen regularly advises private equity sponsors and project developers, as well as commercial and investment banks, investment firms and other financial institutions, on project finance, leveraged finance and acquisition finance transactions in the conventional power, renewable energy, oil & gas, and infrastructure sectors.
He joins Baker Botts from King & Spalding in New York, where he was a member of the Corporate, Finance & Investments practice group. He has over 13 years of law firm experience with project finance, leveraged finance and acquisition finance transactions, as well as private placements, joint ventures and M&A transactions. Schoen also previously served as an in-house counsel in the New York office of First Solar, Inc., where he focused on the development, construction, financing and sale of utility-scale solar power projects in North America.
“Frank is an excellent and well-regarded practitioner who will provide additional strength to our Global Projects team and our wider transactional capabilities at the firm. His hiring demonstrates our ongoing commitment to growing our presence in the project finance space and continuing to deepen our capabilities in the renewable energy industry,” said Baker Botts managing partner John Martin.
“We are delighted to welcome Frank to the firm. His strong transactional background across the energy industry as well as his project finance experience in the renewables and other energy transition spaces will be great assets for our clients as we continue to grow in those areas,” said Jason Bennett, chair of Baker Botts’ Global Projects Department.
“As the premiere global law firm across the energy sector, Baker Botts is a natural fit for my practice and will serve my clients well,” said Schoen. “I look forward to hitting the ground running.”
Schoen received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from Brown University.
