Facebook's Michele Schochet to Speak at Women in CyberSecurity Conference

Five well-respected women are set to speak at the Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) conference, March 28 to 30, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. One of those keynotes is Michele Schochet, the director of security at Facebook.

WiCyS is a unique conference that focuses on recruiting, retaining, inspiring and advancing women in cybersecurity careers while also including students, educators, industry, government, military and research organizations.

Schochet will talk about “Courage, Passion and Data: Boldly Challenge the Status-Quo in Perpetually Evolving Security Threat Landscape,” on Friday, March 29, 9:05 a.m. Facebook’s security is always under threat, and Schochet’s team works to inhibit an attacker’s ability to compromise its data or systems. She will discuss dealing with this worldwide platform’s cybersecurity and how technology solutions and a heightened sense of security awareness are combined to form this group that she directs.

She leads the crew responsible for building tools that protect Facebook’s corporate information assets and enables the secure growth of the Facebook community and company itself by empowering the workforce to move quickly, at scale and securely. She prides herself on maintaining technical connections with the engineers on her teams while keeping the big picture in perspective. That also enables her to examine how to encourage growth and scalability, a key focus in her career. As a working mother, Schochet has worked hard to maintain a work-life balance. This has benefited her in both spaces and brought her much success and happiness.
