On Tuesday, November 25, as part of their Fall CLEfest, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Education is presenting a program titled Environmental Risks & Business Solutions. The seminar will run from 1:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the Woodbridge Hotel and Conference Center, in Iselin, New Jersey.
When property is used for business purposes, there is always the risk of environmental liability. Several types of insurance policies have been created to protect against such risk. If your business clients own or operate property, lease property, or are planning to buy or sell property, attorneys must be prepared to counsel them on how to protect them against environmental liability.
NJICLE's program intends to make attendees of this program aware of the environmental risks they should be concerned about, and to provide practical information on insurance solutions for protection via a panel of experienced attorneys and insurance professionals.
Topics to be covered include types of environmental risks that may arise when dealing with business properties, legal bases for liability, regulations governing environmental liability, structure of insurance sharing agreements, due diligence, allocation of risk, types of environmental insurance available to protect business properties, pollution and remediation legal liability coverage, and more.
Moderating the program will be Stephen W. Smithson, Lowenstein Sandler, PC. Among the speakers will be John Heft, New Day Underwriting Managers LLC; Nielsen V. Lewis, Hill Wallack, LLP; Brett McGovern, XL Insurance; and Raymond S. Papperman, Past Chair, NJSBA Environmental Law Section.
