Jones Day continues to expand its Global Disputes Practice in Europe with the arrival of litigation and arbitration lawyer Elie Kleiman to the Firm's Paris Office. Mr. Kleiman, who has worked extensively during recent years on international arbitration matters, joins Jones Day as a partner in the Global Disputes Practice.
Recognized as one of the leading dispute resolution lawyers in continental Europe, Mr. Kleiman has represented many major multinational clients in complex civil litigation and arbitration matters. His advisory experience includes matters relating to crisis management, settlement assessment, and transactional support – including regulatory approvals, sanctions and export control clearance, and compliance.
Mr. Kleiman has represented clients in numerous industry sectors including energy, chemicals, life sciences, infrastructure, construction, technology, media and telecom, banking, and transportation and logistics. His recent matters include representing two energy companies in relation to various disputes with a sovereign state; advising a consortium of heavy-equipment manufacturers in arbitration against a project finance consortium; and representing a French multinational electric utility company in relation to EU sanctions and export control clearances.
"Elie enjoys the highest reputation for professional excellence and integrity, both with clients and with his colleagues in the Paris bar," said Sophie Hagège, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s Paris Office. "There are already excellent client synergies. Furthermore, Elie will bring to bear the experience and judgment of a senior litigator to various practices where we are already established as a market leader, including Environmental, Health & Safety; M&A; Banking, Finance & Securities; Intellectual Property; and other practices that have continually demonstrated the capabilities of our Paris Office. Elie will be an excellent addition to what is already a very talented team, and I welcome him to Jones Day."
An active member and committed advocate of the Paris legal community, Mr. Kleiman has played a significant role in promoting Paris as a hub for dispute resolution through Paris Place de Droit (Paris Commercial Court, Bar council, French general counsel federations AFJE and Cercle Montesquieu), Paris Home of International Arbitration, and Club des Juristes.
