DRI Diversity Seminar To Examine Progress, Offers Suggestions At Chicago Conference

DRI's Annual Diversity for Success Seminar, a two-day conference, will be held in Chicago this year at the Swissotel on Thursday and Friday, June 16 and 17.

It will run from 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, with registration and a networking reception on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Attendees will learnhow to develop and stick with a strategic marketing plan; examine how a law firm's ability to keep up with shifting cultural demographics can increase value to clients; and how to network nationally with peers and potential clients.

Innovative Ways to Improve Law Firm Diversity, a panel discussion on Thursday morning, will be moderated by Sheryl J. Willert, Williams Kastner, and will include Gary M. Carter, Jr., Entergy Services Inc. and Judy Perry Martinez, Northrop Grumman Corp. They will discuss how law firms' innovative approaches can create an inclusive environment where diversity can thrive. In the afternoon, a panel will explain the Inclusion Initiative, a commitment by some Fortune 500 companies to send millions of dollars of legal work to women- and minority-owned law firms, with Paul Chadha, Accenture LLP; Richard E. Meade, Prudential Financial Inc., and K. Helen Yu, American Airlines Inc. participating. Later, two invitation-only workshops, one for corporate counsel and one for managing partners, are scheduled.

After the sessions adjourn, a Diversity Committee Meeting, a networking reception and dine-arounds are scheduled.

On Friday, DRI members may participate in the Diversity Expo and corporate and insurance counsel interviews.
