Girls on the Run, which was established internationally in 1996, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her potential and is free to pursue her dreams. Over the course of a ten-week program, trained coaches lead small teams of 3rd-8th grade girls through a research-based curriculum, which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. The program wraps up with a celebratory 5K event. The Lancaster/Lebanon council was founded in the Fall of 2019 and in its 10+ year history, has positively impacted over 15,800 girls in every school district in Lancaster County.
