Delaware State Bench Bar Conference And Ethics Presentation

On Wednesday, June 9, the Delaware State Bar will hold a Bench Bar Conference at the Chase Center on the Riverfront located at 815 Justison Street in Wilmington.

The conference will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a presentation titled Ethics in the 21st Century: It's Complex. The Bench Bar session will follow at 4:30 p.m. and awards and dinner will run from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

The CLE program will focus on the rules of ethics and the rapid growth of technology and how this may compromise professionalism and ethics. Attendees will learn how privacy issues and technology have changed the role of the bar and the expectations of the bench.

Attendees will enjoy the annual meeting and installation of the executive committee members of the Delaware State Bar Association and the passing of the gavel to the new president, Matthew M. Greenberg. There will also be a state of the judiciary address by the Honorable Myron T. Steele, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Delaware.

The keynote address for the evening will be presented by Thomas A. Spahn, commercial litigator with the firm of McGuirewoods. Mr. Spahn has written and lectured widely on such topics as effective legal writing, ethics and professionalism, the attorney-client privilege and defamation.

Other speakers include Benjamin Strauss, outgoing president of the Delaware State Bar Association; the Honorable Thomas L. Ambro, award recipient of the Edmund N. Carpenter II Memorial Service; Justice Randy J. Holland; Justice Carolyn Berger; and Professor Fredric I. Lederer, College of William and Mary School of Law.
