On two dates in February, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute will offer a seminar examining the daunting but surmountable challenge of defending white collar cases. On Thursday, February 12, the course will take place at the PBI Professional Development Center, Heinz 57 Center, 339 Sixth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA; on Friday, February 27, the course will be held at The CLE Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, Suite 1010, in Philadelphia. Both courses will begin at 9 a.m. and adjourn at 4:15 p.m.
The Department of Justice describes white collar offenses as "those classes of non-violent illegal activities which principally involve traditional notions of deceit, deception, concealment, manipulation, breach of trust, subterfuge or illegal circumvention." Lives and careers are on the line and for corporate defendants, the company's continued existence may be at risk.
Faculty for this seminar will examine the substantive and procedural nuances of white collar criminal defense and discuss the tactics and strategies necessary for a successful outcome.
