Colin Bumby, a highly regarded deal lawyer who advises private equity firms and public and private companies in multibillion-dollar transactions, has joined McGuireWoods’ M&A practice as a partner in New York.
Bumby represents companies and private equity funds in mergers and acquisitions, complex investments, carve-outs, joint ventures, recapitalizations and other corporate matters. His practice spans many industries, including energy, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and food and beverage. He joins the firm from Latham & Watkins.
His deal experience includes assisting energy-focused private equity investors and companies in acquisitions and divestitures. He has handled more than $23 billion in transactions involving power generation facilities and has closed deals in the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors. Bumby also was part of a deal team representing a national supermarket chain in its $9.4 billion going private sale in 2014.
