DC Course Helps Lawyers Learn How To Run A Law Office

Lawyers who want to learn how to run a solo or small firm should attend the basic training session offered on June 7 by the D.C. Bar Practice Management Advisory Service. The course begins at 9:15 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Early registration is encouraged for this popular class.

The small, interactive program will cover topics such as business plans, client issues, employees, fees and agreements, office operations, marketing, planning for the unexpected, where to find help, and thinking and productivity tools.

Faculty also will discuss communications and problem solving, file creation, client selection and intake, types of fee arrangements, marketing on a shoestring budget, and smart marketing.

Basic training consists of two full-day sessions. Part One covers getting an office up and going in DC and planning issues. Part Two covers the business of lawyering, including marketing, client relations and productivity. Future sessions have been scheduled: June 30 - Part Two;July 13 - Part One; July 27 - Part Two.

All sessions are at the D.C. Bar, 1101 K Street NW.
