DC Bar Offers Employment Investigations Series

The DC Bar Association is offering a two-part program on Internal Employment Investigations.The first part will be held on Wednesday, August 25, and the second part will be held on Wednesday, September 1. Both will take place from 6:00 to 9:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center at 1101 K. St, NW in DC.

The first session will look at exactly how to conduct an internal employment investigation in the private sector.The second part of the series will focus on privilege, ethics and strategy issues in conducting internal employment investigations.

In part I, the faculty will use hypothetical scenarios and examples of what participants should consider when making the decision to investigate a complaint of an employment violation involving discrimination and harassment in the private sector. Participants will learn about conducing effective interviews and document retention requirements, including Zubulake concerns.

Part II will focus on conducting equal opportunity internal investigations and attorney-client privilege and work product doctrine in the context of conducting internal employment investigations. The faculty will offer practical advice and strategies that will assist participants in mastering the complex issues that arise in internal investigations.
