David Andersen joins Barnes & Thornburg as Partner in Los Angeles

Barnes & Thornburg is pleased to announce the addition of David Andersen to its Corporate Department as a partner in Los Angeles. Andersen is the fourth corporate partner to join Barnes & Thornburg in the last month, following the addition of Matthew J. Michaels in Los Angeles, Robert W. Karr Jr. in Chicago, and Dino Wu in New York.

Andersen, a seasoned corporate lawyer, advises public and private companies, private equity sponsors, and others in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, among other corporate matters. His practice is primarily concentrated in the middle market but includes transactions ranging from small acquisitions and divestitures by emerging growth companies to platform acquisitions and billion-dollar exits. Andersen has represented clients in a variety of industries, with an emphasis on media and entertainment, technology, and healthcare.

“David is a full-service M&A attorney, capable of handling everything from strategic investments to bolt-on acquisitions to billion-dollar exits,” said Jahan Sharifi, chair of Barnes & Thornburg’s Corporate Department. “Clients can rely on David’s ability to provide smart advice rooted in a deep understanding of their unique needs and objectives. We’re thrilled to have him join our growing team.”

In addition to representing clients in significant change of control and capital markets transactions, Andersen represents companies in virtually all phases of the corporate life cycle. He guides companies through initial formation and capitalization, restructurings and recapitalizations, corporate governance, and compliance with ongoing disclosure obligations under federal securities laws. In particular, Andersen has extensive experience advising emerging growth companies and has assisted clients with structuring, developing, and positioning numerous business enterprises for venture capital and private equity investment, growth through acquisitions, and eventual sale or initial public offerings (IPOs).

“LA is a diverse and dynamic corporate market and home to several major industries in need of sophisticated and versatile legal counsel,” said Kevin D. Rising, managing partner of the Los Angeles office. “David’s broad skillset and impressive track record providing strategic counsel to clients at every stage of their corporate journey makes him an invaluable addition to our team.”

Andersen earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California-Irvine.
