Daniel Fayock Joins K&L Gates LLP as Partner

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Daniel Fayock back to the Corporate M&A practice in Pittsburgh. He rejoins the firm as a partner after spending the past two decades in various in-house positions.

Fayock has extensive experience advising boards of directors and executive teams and managing a broad spectrum of legal and corporate affairs. Most recently, he served as the executive vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary for Arconic Corporation, where he oversaw the numerous areas of legal, ethics, compliance, and government affairs.

Fayock previously spent 15 years with PPG Industries in several senior legal positions, including deputy general counsel and corporate secretary. At PPG, he had a broad range of responsibilities, including advising the company’s executive team, leading its corporate governance program, guiding the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies, completing numerous acquisitions and divestitures, and serving as counsel to members of senior management and various businesses on legal and strategic issues.

Prior to joining PPG, Fayock was a senior attorney with Allegheny Energy after spending the first five years of his legal career as a corporate associate with K&L Gates.

“We are thrilled to have Dan ‘boomerang’ back to K&L Gates like some of our other colleagues recently, including Ron Aulbach and Chris Thel,” noted Thomas Ryan, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Pittsburgh office. “Dan is battled-tested and boardroom ready. Over the last 20 years, his career has been forged by the fire working closely with senior management and boards of directors of some of Pittsburgh’s most prominent companies in tackling the most sophisticated legal issues faced in our market. We are excited for him to start not only advising our Pittsburgh-based clients on complex legal matters, but our clients around the world.”

Fayock’s arrival follows more than a dozen partners to join K&L Gates’ global Corporate practice since the beginning of 2023, including Sydney partners Divesh Patel, Stuart Broadfoot and Naomi Philp, Brisbane partners Khilen Devani and Carl Hinze, Palo Alto partner Mike Gorback, Orange County partner Mattias Luukkonen, Dallas partner Virginia Peters, Singapore partner Sarah Park, Los Angeles partner Naoki Kawada, and Hong Kong partner Paul Haswell. Last year, K&L Gates’ Pittsburgh office welcomed a team of seven corporate and private equity partners.

“Having spent the past two decades in senior in-house positions with leading companies, Dan’s background and experience brings tremendous business and practical insights that will add significant value to our clients in multiple industries including manufacturing, chemicals, metals, and transportation,” said Rick Giovannelli, a leader of K&L Gates’ global Corporate practice. “We are delighted to have Dan rejoin our Corporate team.”

K&L Gates’ Corporate practice is one of the most substantial in the legal industry, with more than 500 lawyers in offices on five continents assisting clients in the structuring, financing, and completion of domestic, international, and cross-border transactions. The group serves as counsel to a broad array of Global 500, Fortune 100, FTSE 100 corporations, privately held and venture-backed companies, partnerships, private equity firms, other investment funds, management groups, and entrepreneurs, helping to earn K&L Gates the distinction of Corporate “Law Firm of the Year” in Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms” report two of the last three years.
