Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, a full-service national law firm with offices from coast to coast, is proud to welcome partner Dan Simon to its offices in Charlotte and Washington D.C. Simon's deep knowledge in energy regulatory law and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) not only elevates the firm’s client services but also underscores Nelson Mullins' commitment to expanding its capabilities in the energy sector.
“Dan is a nationally admired FERC attorney, and we are fortunate to have him join the firm,” said Weston Adams, Co-Chair of the firm’s Energy Group. “His practice representing tech companies, private equity, renewable developers, and large energy users in both renewables and traditional forms of energy aligns perfectly with Nelson Mullins’ existing energy practice.”
"I am excited to be a part of such a dynamic firm and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of the energy practice,” said Simon. “Nelson Mullins’ commitment to excellence and its collaborative culture provide the perfect platform to provide superior client services and cast a wider net within the industry."
With decades of legal experience, Simon is adept at navigating complex regulatory challenges and transactions related to the energy sector. He has an established track record of addressing regulatory issues related to FERC and state utility commissions and offers comprehensive counsel to a diverse array of clients.
Before joining Nelson Mullins, Simon served as a trial attorney in FERC’s Office of Administrative Litigation, where he was instrumental in litigating and settling disputes arising from the 2000-01 Western electricity crisis, as well as allegations of market manipulation by Enron and other entities.
