The Fordham University School of Law presents a topical program looking at the Securities and Exchange Commission: The Next 75 Years.
The event is on Monday, September 27, at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at Fordham Law's James B.M. McNally Amphitheatre on West 62nd Street in New York City.
Join the current chairperson of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Mary Schapiro, who along with former chairmen, Arthur Levitt(1993-2001), Harvey Pitt (2001-2003) and Richard Breeden (1989-1993), will participate in a timely discussion of the past, present, and future of the Securities and Exchange Commission.Mr. Breeden will moderate the panel, and the panelists will explore how the SEC has evolved since its founding in 1934 and the challenges it must overcome in the next seventy five years.They will discuss the historic Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act recently passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama and its implications on the future of the SEC regulatory agency and the finance and banking industries.
There will be a reception in the Law School's Platt Atrium immediately following the program, and both the discussion and reception are free and open to the public.
