The Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) this month is offering a program, to train pro bono volunteers titled Bankruptcy for Beginners.
The program will take place on Tuesday, March 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CBA Law Center, 30 Bank Street, New Britain, CT.
This training will provide an introduction to the practice of bankruptcy with a focus on Chapter 7 cases. Topics will include: counseling the consumer debtor, overview of the bankruptcy process and Chapter 7 and 13, credit counseling and other pre-filing considerations, preparation of the petition and schedules additional document filing requirements, and filing fees waivers. Developments related to Bankruptcy amendments also will be discussed.
Speakers will be Patti Renaud, CBA pro bono coordinator; John Rao, attorney with the National Consumer Law Center, and Ronald I. Chorches, Law Office of Ronald I. Chorches LLC.
