Sidley is pleased to announce that Corey Roush has joined the firm’s Antitrust and Competition practice as a partner in Washington, D.C. He joins Sidley from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where he was the global co-chair for the Antitrust and International Competition practice and headed the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)-facing Consumer Protection practice.
Mr. Roush concentrates on antitrust and consumer protection litigation and investigations, and class actions. He regularly assists clients across industries in effectively navigating the antitrust regulatory approval process in complex transactions and is one of only a handful of antitrust lawyers to litigate multiple merger trials opposite the government. Mr. Roush has represented clients before almost every division of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. He is experienced in a wide range of issues related to mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, and has litigated against the FTC and the Department of Justice to preserve proposed and consummated mergers.
“Corey is experienced in representing clients before government agencies and has a strong reputation in the D.C. market,” said Kristin Graham Koehler, managing partner of Sidley’s Washington, D.C. office and a member of the firm’s Management and Executive Committees. “We are excited about Corey joining our antitrust practice, and adding to its recent growth, which included the hiring of partners, Carrie Mahan and Vadim Brusser.”
“Corey has handled some of the most difficult deal clearances and will help us expand our capabilities and depth in merger control,” said Brian Fahrney, a member of Sidley’s Management and Executive Committees and global co-leader of the M&A and Private Equity group. “He has won the trust of his clients across industries and has developed a particular niche in the life sciences, retail, chemicals, and energy industries. He moves seamlessly between deals and litigation, and we look forward to his collaboration with partners in the M&A and Private Equity and Litigation practices, as well as across the firm.”
Sidley’s Antitrust practice represents public and private corporations, funds, individuals, and associations in cases involving claims of price fixing, market allocation, actual or attempted monopolization, price discrimination, resale price maintenance, refusals to deal, information exchanges, improper dealer terminations, and other alleged antitrust violations. In addition, Sidley has litigated private and public challenges to proposed mergers and acquisitions.
