Colorado Bar Association To Hold Statewide ADR Conference

The Colorado Bar Association has scheduled Colorado's 4th Annual Statewide ADR Conference, to be held Thursday, November 4, at the Renaissance Hotel, 3801 Quebec Street in Denver.

The conference will run from 8:25 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and will include a keynote presentation by Stephanie West Allen, lawyer, author and educator, three breakout sessions, a lunch presentation about legislative developments with Senator Linda Newell, who will present her vision for the future of government and ADR, and an afternoon plenary session - Radical Insights from Neuroscience and Complex Adaptive System Theory: Creating Community.

In her keynote presentation, The Mind and the Brain: 21st Century Insight for the ADR Professional, Ms. West Allen will explain how the reactive brain engages in a very different kind of conflict than does the reflective mind and what recent neuroscience tells us about taking control of the brain with the mind to facilitate mindful and collaborative solutions.She practiced law in California for several years, held offices in local bar associations, and wrote chapters for California Continuing Education of the Bar. She has been a mediator for more than 25 years. She writes the column "Reading Minds" for the ABA's Law Practice.

Among the many breakout session topics are Early Identification and Management of Difficult Clients, Ethics Considerations in Mediation, Restorative Justice in the Workplace, Mediation Media: Use of Technology in Mediation, and Does Colorado Need a New International Arbitration Act?
