CO Bar To HostAppellate Practice Fall Update In Denver

The Colorado Bar Association has scheduled the Appellate Practice Fall Update 2010 for Friday, November 19, in Denver.

It will run from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the CLECI Large Classroom, 1900 Grant Street.

A faculty of Colorado judges and top appellate practitioners will present the year's appellate practice pointers and updates at this event, which will bring attendees up to speed on practice skills and allow opportunities for networking and for joining the judges' interactive roundtable discussion.

In the morning, topics include Finality of Judgments - When Does the Time to Appeal Start Running?; Interlocutory Appeals in State and Federal Courts;and How Appellate Judges Decide Cases and What That Means for Your Appellate Practice.

After the luncheon roundtable with the judges, afternoon topics will include Ethical Issues for the Appellate Practitioner; Brief Writing - Using Often-Overlooked Sections to Persuade the Court; and Sanctions, Costs and Attorneys Fees on Appeal.

Among the speakers are Hon. Allison H. Eid, CO Supreme Court; Stephen G. Masciocchi, Holland & Hart LLP; Hon. David J. Richman, CO Court of Appeals; and Paul A. Schwartz, Shoemaker Ghiselli & Schwartz LLC.
