On Monday, March 15, the New York City Bar will host Ethical Issues with Blogging, Friending, Tweeting: What Attorneys Should & Should Not Know.
The presentation begins at 6:00 p.m. and will end at 9:00 p.m. and will be located at the NYC Bar, 42 West 44th Street in New York City.
Participants will take part in a panel discussion that will explore an issue at the forefront of the legal profession in the 21st century: how attorneys are to navigate in the world of blogs and social networking sites. These Internet tools, which are useful and provide for stimulating debate, can also be minefields for the unwitting attorney, whose conduct is governed by a host of ethics rules and regulations not applicable to other online users.
Attorneys will learn to avoid breach of ethical obligations such as attorney-client confidences or talking about cases they have worked on. Participants will gain insights to better follow the rules of professional conduct while using such sites as Facebook or Twitter.
