McGuireWoods Richmond associate Thomas “Chip” Hancock IV will join VetEvolve — an organization that provides industry know-how and management support to veterinary teams across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia — as its general counsel on April 1, 2024. His last day at McGuireWoods is March 15, 2024.
In his new role, Hancock will facilitate veterinary practice acquisitions and assist with development and supervision of compliance activities.
Hancock, who joined McGuireWoods in 2022, negotiates and structures healthcare transactions and advises clients on the applicability of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations. He also counsels clients on the changing laws and regulations governing payment from Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and commercial payers. Before entering private practice, Hancock was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, earning a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat “V” for his service in Ramadi, Iraq.
He was selected for inclusion on Virginia Business magazine’s Legal Elite list and on Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list.
“I’ll always be grateful for my time at McGuireWoods because it gave me the opportunity to work with amazing clients and colleagues,” Hancock said. “It has been an incredible experience to work on sophisticated legal matters all over the United States with such a fantastic team of talented attorneys and professional staff.”
Chicago partner Holly Buckley, chair of McGuireWoods’ Healthcare Department, said: “As Chip embarks on a new professional journey, we express our appreciation for his service to clients and our healthcare team and extend our best wishes for his continued success.”
