The American Conference Institute is hosting a seminar focusing on the timely issue of executive compensation on Thursday and Friday, July 21 and 22, at the Sutton Place Hotel located at 21 East Bellevue Place in Chicago.
After sweeping changes in the global economic market, the launch of a new administration and the start of the new era of enhanced scrutiny of corporate governance, all eyes are on executive compensation. More pay packages of directors and officers are being investigated as the government calls for greater transparency.
Attendees will hear how the IRS will launch comprehensive tax examinations of approximately six thousand random U.S. companies as part of its research program on employment tax compliance. They will learn of the study and how its results will impact clients and in-house counsel.
They will also learn how to avoid or minimize legal risks in the compensation arena. The SEC, the Treasury Department and the IRS all have revised rules that attorneys and advisors must know inside and out in order to properly advise and represent corporate clients.
The seminar will provide practitioners with in-depth information on enforcement and legislative actions, audits, say on pay, SEC proxy disclosure enhancements and risk management issues in Section 409A matters.
