Chicago ACCA Plans Seminar On Acquiring Assets Of Distressed Companies

The Chicago Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel America will offer a luncheon CLE seminar titled Bankruptcy Code 363 Sales of Assets - Purchasing the Distressed Company.

The program will take place on Thursday, November 8 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Mid-America Club, 200 East Randolph Street, 80th Floor, Chicago.

In today's volatile credit market, amid the forecasts of an impending economic downturn or even a recession by some analysts, opportunities will arise for the shrewd buyer to acquire valuable business assets from distressed companies. This presentation will explain the process and relevant considerations by covering, among other things: strategic considerations when buying and selling distressed businesses; advantages and disadvantages of being a stalking horse bidder, and a discussion of sales procedures and negotiating the asset purchase agreement.

The featured speaker will be Mark Berkoff, a partner at DLA Piper US LLP and global co-chair of the firm's Financial Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group.

Attendance is complimentary but limited to ACC members, prospective ACC members and guests.
