Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international technology, energy and life sciences law firm, announced today that Chao “Wendy” Wang has joined its Intellectual Property Department as a partner in the Palo Alto office.
Wang represents clients in patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright cases. A U.S.-trained litigator, Wang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and regularly represents Chinese and Taiwanese technology companies in intellectual property disputes, commercial disputes, and government investigations. She works with companies in a range of industries that include video streaming and entertainment, semiconductors, LED lighting, telecommunications, chemistry and chemical engineering, interactive entertainment and gaming, and medical devices.

Wang joins Baker Botts from Perkins Coie. Earlier in her career she was a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Ronald M. Gould in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
She earned her J.D. from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law. She also has an M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois and a B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University.
Wang’s arrival is the firm’s third lateral partner hire in the Bay Area in the past year and the fourth hire for the IP Department. She is the ninth lateral partner to join the firm since February 2024.
