California State Bar Plans IP Institute

The State Bar of California has scheduled a three-day Intellectual Property Institute for Thursday through Saturday, November 6 to 8, at the Rancho Las Palmas, 14000 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage.

On day one, concurrent sessions go from 1 to 4 p.m. with a general session from 1 to 5 p.m. to be followed by a dinner, receptions, and a movie screening, "This Film is Not Yet Rated" with director Kirby Dick from 10:00 p.m. to midnight.

On Friday, sessions go from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a BBQ dinner and a Monte Carlo Casino Night. The luncheon and keynote program, which will address global intellectual property theft, will be presented by Wayne Pugh, acting U.S. coordinator for international intellectual property enforcement, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Commerce.

On Saturday, session go from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Topics include hot topics in patent prosecutions, a mock Markman hearing, intellectual property verses the First Amendment, and the Trademark Dilution cause of action. Concurrent sessions are offered on all three days.
