California Rules Of Professional Conduct Reviewed In Live Webcast

On Wednesday, October 19, ALI-ABA will present California's Revised Rules of Professional Conduct: Traps for the Unwary, to help practitioners become familiar with revisions to the rules.

The live webcast will run from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. EDT.

A special commission in California has reexamined that state's Rules of Professional Conduct and proposed many amendments and new rules. The California Supreme Court is reviewing this proposal, the most thorough overhaul of the rules in almost 40 years. This program will focus on existing rules that appear to be the same but that have in fact been revised in ways that might trip up the unwary practitioner.

The faculty are members of or consultants to the State Bar of California's Special Commission for the Revision of the Rules of Professional Conduct. They are Robert L. Kehr, Kehr, Schiff & Crane LLP; Stanley W. Lamport, Cox, Castle & Nicholson; and Kevin E. Mohr, Western State University, Fullerton. They will offer reminders of what current rules say and explanations for where the "landmines" are hidden.
