California Bar To Host Real Property Retreat At Squaw Creek

The State Bar of California has scheduled its annual Real Property Law Section retreat, Real Estate in Turbulent Times, for Friday through Sunday, May 15 to 17, at the Resort at Squaw Creek, Lake Tahoe.

On day one, the program will run from 2 until 5 p.m. and will be followed by wine tasting, a family cookout dinner, and a leadership opportunity party.Seminar titles include Trends and Alternatives for Financing and Recapitalization in a New Real Estate World, Short Sales and Other Alternatives to Foreclosure, and The Interaction of Water Supply Planning and Real Property Development.

The program for Saturday combines general sessions and concurrent sessions, which run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are followed by a dinner at high camp, the Squaw valley preserve, from 6 to 9 p.m. The keynote speaker on Saturday will be Michael C. Flynn, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Washington, D.C. Other topics on Saturday include Sustainable Development Strategies, a professor's roundtable discussion of the year's most important legal developments, and Bankruptcy and Real Estate: What Every Real Estate Lawyer Needs to Know.

On Sunday, concurrent sessions run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program will include a panel discussion titled Is Arbitration Really Better? A Litigator's Perspective and Residential Arrested Development: Now What?

Among the speakers are Debra M. Kornheiser, Wasserman-Kornheiser LLP; Steven S. Weil, Berding Weil LLP; and Julie A. Frambach, Hopkins & Carley, ALC.
