Proskauer, a leading international law firm, today announced that it has welcomed Litigation partner Bryan Sillaman to its Corporate Investigations and Compliance practice. He also joins the Firm’s Securities Litigation and White Collar Defense & Investigations practices. Bryan advises clients across the globe on a range of governance and compliance issues. A subject matter expert on FCPA, international anti-corruption and investigations, Bryan practices both U.S. and French law.
“Across the world, government regulation and enforcement is getting more frequent and complex – particularly for companies in private capital and with an international presence. Bryan’s extensive experience across different jurisdictions will allow us to provide clients with a more robust offering on intricate governance and compliance issues they may face. I am delighted to welcome him,” said Bart Williams, Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department.
Bryan has more than 20 years of experience working with clients on the development of policies and procedures, extensive due diligence in the context of mergers and acquisitions and relating to third parties and joint venture partners, complex internal investigations, proactive internal reviews and audits of their global operations, and navigating the complexities of cross-border regulatory investigations and monitorships. His work has covered a range of jurisdictions including Angola, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mozambique, the Middle East, Nigeria, Russia, and Venezuela. Bryan joins from Hughes Hubbard & Reed, where he was Managing Partner of the Paris office from 2018-2023 and was previously an attorney in the Division of Enforcement of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he earned a Division Director Award.
“Our clients are global enterprises and as their matters increase in complexity, they are looking for counsel who can guide them in all areas of practice. Bryan’s experience with international organizations and cross-border and domestic French law will be hugely additive to our clients and to our Firm,” said Xavier Norlain. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to grow in Paris and abroad.”
“Businesses face an increasingly complex and risky environment as changes in technology, labor, and more drive new regulations, and as governments continue to aggressively combat corruption, fraud, and regulatory missteps. To navigate this environment successfully, they need trusted and experienced counsel,” said Bryan. “From Los Angeles to Paris, Proskauer is renowned for its Litigation team and its ability to counsel clients across jurisdictions. I am excited to join the Firm’s office in France and to serve clients around the world.”
Bryan is the fifth partner to join the Firm’s Paris office in the last 12 months. In September 2023, market-leading corporate partners Xavier Norlain, Jeremy Scemama, Maud Manon and Matthieu Lampel, joined Proskauer, whose Paris office has since established itself as one of the leading transactional practices in France. The office advises organizations on transactional and contentious matters and works closely with the London and U.S. offices on domestic and cross-border matters for global clients seeking to operate, invest, and expand in France.
