Akin is pleased to announce that capital markets partner Bryan Flannery has joined the firm’s Houston office. He joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis, where he was a partner.
Flannery’s practice includes a broad range of capital markets transactions, with a particular focus on the energy, sustainability and infrastructure industries, representing clients on traditional debt and equity offerings, private placements, convertible debt instruments, corporate governance, public company M&A and general securities laws compliance matters. He also has extensive experience with securities matters in the special situations and restructuring context.
“As capital markets activity continues to accelerate in 2024, we are seeing increasing deal flow that is driving demand for M&A and public company legal and advisory services, especially in the energy space. Bryan adds depth to our capital markets practice and will help drive growth for the firm in the Houston market by leveraging Akin’s rich heritage in serving the world’s leading energy companies,” said Akin chairperson Kim Koopersmith.
“Bryan will be a terrific resource to our public company clients,” added Zachary Wittenberg, corporate practice co-head. “His experience with complex securities matters, particularly in the energy industry, will add scale to our capital markets offering and our energy practice in Houston, and we are excited to welcome him to the firm.”
“Akin is a perfect platform for focusing on complex capital markets deals. I’m excited by the opportunity to work with an impressive roster of energy and other public company clients,” said Flannery on his move. “I look forward to joining the firm’s Houston office and collaborating with new colleagues.”
In Houston, Akin recently added energy partners Trent Bridges and Ian Goldberg and private equity partner Andrew Lehman.
