Barnes & Thornburg announced today that Brittany McCants has joined the Washington, D.C., office as a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. McCants advises public and private companies on complex issues arising out of executive compensation matters in corporate transactions.
McCants has over a decade of experience advising on high-stakes executive compensation matters related to M&A transactions, IPOs, and day-to-day corporate governance. She counsels executives and employers in the negotiation of employment, severance and incentive compensation arrangements in connection with executive hires and departures.
“We’re thrilled to add Brittany’s unique experience and deep understanding of executive compensation law to our department,” said Kenneth J. Yerkes, chair of Barnes & Thornburg’s Labor and Employment Department. “Brittany has worked with a wide range of public and private sector clients, bringing significant experience navigating high-pressure, strategic transactions.”
McCants works closely with clients across many industries, including biomedical, healthcare, retail and real estate, on legal due diligence and the negotiation of transaction documents in connection with mergers, divestitures, financings and securities offerings.
“Brittany has a strong presence and deep ties in the D.C. legal scene,” said Roscoe C. Howard, Jr., managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Washington, D.C., office. “Brittany complements the talents of our current team in D.C. and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome her to our office.”
