Italy-based firm BonelliErede has strengthened its ranks with the arrival of 15 professionals led by partner Alessandro De Nicola from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
The addition of the new team members—who will be based in Milan—is part of a wider strategy to consolidate the firm’s IP, privacy and IT law department and its legal risk, compliance and investigations team.
Giovanni Guglielmetti, Tommaso Faelli and the rest of the IP, privacy and law department will welcome partner Ivan Rotunno and of counsel Michele Bertani, who is also a full professor of industrial property law at the University of Pavia. They will be joined by associates Giulia Rivarola di Roccella and Martina Acquaro.
The additional hires will join the risk, compliance and investigations department. According to the firm, the new team members' expertise makes “them unique in the legal landscape of integrated compliance”.
Commenting on the development, BonelliErede’s managing partner, Eliana Catalano, and chairman, Massimiliano Danusso, said: “We’re delighted to welcome this great team. We are confident that they will be able to put the know-how and experience gained in such an international environment to great use with us, in full synergy with the type of work we do and our areas of expertise, and lead to only further success.
“Our goal is to continue to strengthen BonelliErede’s leadership in Italy and international standing. Their arrival marks further growth in that direction and another step towards that goal, in line with the main pillars underlying our strategic plan—which include bringing on the best professional skills”.
Team leader De Nicola said: “My colleagues and I are proud—and at the same time enthusiastic—to begin this new journey. BonelliErede has been synonymous with excellence in our country since 1999 and is increasingly seen as a benchmark on the international scene.
“We share the firm’s values, strategies and objectives, and we are ready to pool our skills and experience together to help strengthen the firm’s market leadership, especially in areas of increasing complexity and strategic importance for companies such as legal risk management and compliance, where we have built up our specialisation and reputation over the years in Italy and internationally.”
Bertani said: “I am excited to join BonelliErede’s IP team—which has an outstanding reputation in the field—and to tackle the new challenges of advising innovative companies on legal matters, including competition in digital markets, the regulation of AI, and the increasing importance that legislators give to the adequacy of organisational arrangements for IP management.”
