Barnes & Thornburg Welcomes New Attorneys And Legal Professionals

Barnes & Thornburg has welcomed several new attorneys and legal professionals in the areas of litigation, government services and finance, labor and employment, corporate and real estate in the Chicago, Dallas, Delaware, Indianapolis, and New York offices.

A staff attorney in the firm’s Chicago office, Chandler Caswell handles litigation matters for primarily pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturer clients in the areas of product liability and mass tort disputes. She also assists with review and analysis of product liability claims, medical records and related injury documentation. She earned her J.D. in 2020 from University of Illinois Chicago John Marshall School of Law and her B.A. from Arizona State University in 2016.

Hannah Clendening is an associate in the government services and finance department in the firm’s Indianapolis office. She focuses her practice on public and municipal finance work by assisting with financial matters as bond counsel, negotiating financing agreements, and aiding cities, towns and nonprofits with securing necessary funding. Hannah earned her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2019 and a master’s degree in environmental policy and natural resource management from Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs in 2019. She also earned her B.A. from Indiana University.

Another Indianapolis office arrival is Lisa Hansen, who is a staff attorney in the firm’s labor and employment department. She has more than 10 years experience in employment and family-based immigration and corporate immigration policy development. Lisa also provides analysis on public and private corporate financial statements as they relate to federal immigration law compliance. She earned her J.D. from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and her B.A. from State University of New York at Buffalo.

As a corporate associate in the firm’s New York office, Francis Mascarenhas represents public and private companies across a range of general corporate and transactional matters. He also advises clients with respect to domestic and global mergers, acquisitions, and equity investments in several industries. Additionally, Francis counsels clients in a variety of debt financing transactions with a focus on emerging companies and venture capital. He earned his J.D. from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law in 2020 and his B.A. in economics from Bucknell University in 2014.

The Delaware office has added Ted McShane as director of unclaimed property in the government services and finance group. He uses his accounting background to assist clients with their unclaimed property needs. Ted helps clients navigate complex issues surrounding annual compliance, multistate examinations and voluntary disclosure programs. He earned a B.S. in business administration (accounting) from the University of Pittsburgh.

A real estate associate in the Dallas office, Malissa Patel represents developers, tenants, lenders and operators with virtually all aspects of real estate and corporate transactions. She counsels clients on matters involving land use, planning, construction and lending with a focus on commercial leasing and contract review for retail, office, industrial and mixed-use properties. Malissa he earned her J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law in 2018 and her B.A. from the University of Georgia in 2015.

Emma Ray is a staff attorney in the firm’s Chicago office. A litigator, she focuses her practice on defending and counseling manufacturers, distributors, and sellers of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and other consumer and industrial products. She earned her J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2021 and a B.S. in management and finance from Northern Illinois University in 2018.
