Barnes & Thornburg has welcomed four attorneys and paralegals to its roster of legal professionals in multiple offices across its geographic footprint.
Corporate attorney Sofia Grünewald Brum has joined the firm’s New York office, while the firm has added litigator Aaron Vance to its Indianapolis office. The firm also has added Sarah Feather as an immigration paralegal to its Atlanta office and litigation paralegal Ana H. Verduzco to its Dallas office.
A native of Brazil, Brum advises clients on various corporate transactions and matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate formations, and corporate governance. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Brum worked for a Rio de Janeiro-based firm, counseling closely held and publicly held companies and investment funds on various corporate matters. She earned her LL.M. law degree from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and an LL.B. from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
Vance represents national and local employers in labor and employment and appellate matters. He counsels clients on various issues, including federal and state law, equal opportunity employment practices, OSHA and workplace safety compliance, and wage and hour laws. Prior to joining the firm, Vance worked for a Cincinnati firm, where he drafted answers, dispositive and pre-trial motions, mediation statements, administrative responses, and appellate briefs. He earned his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and his B.S. in political science from the University of Louisville.
Feather, a paralegal, began her legal experience while working at Harvard Law School, where she was an intern with the Crimmigration Clinic at the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic. She currently assists attorneys with clients who have a variety of immigration matters. She has experience in both immigrant and non-immigrant visas and petitions. This includes H-1B, I-14-, I-485 adjustment of status, consular processing, and N-400 naturalization, among others. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University in international relations and Middle Eastern and South Asian languages and literature.
For more than 10 years, Verduzco, a litigation paralegal, has assisted attorneys with a variety of civil and criminal defense cases at the state and federal level. She also has experience managing small- and mid-sized law firms. She is a graduate of El Centro College, where she earned an A.A.S. in paralegal studies.
