Barnes & Thornburg Continues Healthcare, Corporate Department Growth In Indianapolis With Addition Of Partner Thomas Hutchinson

Barnes & Thornburg has announced the addition of Thomas N. Hutchinson as a partner in the firm’s Healthcare Department and Corporate Department. Hutchinson joins the firm’s Indianapolis office following the addition of healthcare finance attorneys M. Elizabeth Walker and Jerimi J. Ullom last month. Hutchinson joins from an Indianapolis-based law firm, where he was chair of the healthcare practice.

Hutchinson advises for-profit and nonprofit healthcare providers across the country, including ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, hospitals and health systems, and post-acute providers and senior living facilities, with a particular emphasis on orthopedic and urology ventures. He assists clients with physician practice acquisitions, hospital-physician joint ventures, clinical co-management arrangements, professional services arrangements and Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute compliance.

“Tom has a great depth of experience on the business aspects of health law and leading healthcare transactions at every level,” said John E. Kelly, chair of the firm’s Healthcare Department and Healthcare Industry Practice. “He’s been a trusted adviser to physicians and hospitals for more than 25 years, and we’re excited to have him on board as we continue to expand and strengthen our preeminent national Healthcare Industry Practice with more than 100 healthcare-focused attorneys.”

“Tom has deep roots in Indianapolis while also maintaining an impressive national practice,” added Brian L. Burdick, managing partner of the firm’s Indianapolis office. “We’re thrilled to welcome him as the latest addition to our growing healthcare presence in the Midwest and beyond.”

Hutchinson earned his B.A. from DePauw University and his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
