Atlanta Bar Seminar To DiscussImpact Of Avian Flu Pandemic

The Atlanta Bar Association this month has scheduled a CLE seminar titled An Avian Flu Pandemic - How a Public Health Emergency Might Affect the Law, Commerce and Society.

The program will take place on Wednesday, November 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the State Bar of Georgia Conference Center, 104 Marietta Street, Atlanta.

While other programs on this issue have focused on how health care attorneys and providers need to prepare for such an emergency, this seminar will use the possibility of an avian flu pandemic to provide a broader range of participants with an understanding of the impact of this kind of public health emergency will have on businesses, including law firms, the court system and society as a whole.

Among the speakers are Stuart T. Brown, MD, director of the Georgia Division of Public Health; Martin Cetron, MD, director of the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine, Centers for Disease Control; Charley English, executive director, Georgia Emergency Management Agency, and the Hon. Leah Ward Sears, chief justice, Supreme Court of Georgia.
