American Bar Association Offers Corporate Counsel Seminar In Florida

On Thursday through Sunday, February 17-20, the American Bar Association Committee on Corporate Counsel and Section of Litigation is sponsoring a Corporate Counsel CLE Seminar at the Naples Grande Beach Resort, 475 Seagate Drive, Naples Florida.

The seminar begins Thursday with registration at 2:00 p.m. and programs until 6:00 p.m. On Friday the sessions begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 pm. On Saturday it runs from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and on Sunday the program begins at 8:15 a.m. and adjourns at 11:00 a.m.

It is critical to stay informed about the latest trends in the law. The recent economic tumult has changed the profession in fundamental ways. Both inside and outside counsel will benefit from understanding how these changes affect litigation strategy, trial strategy, alternative dispute resolution and risk management.

A plenary session will discuss what is on general counsels' minds. A group of general counsel will convene to share insights about their greatest concerns and challenges, to exchange ideas and to offer perspectives on advising their corporate clients about managing risks, controlling costs, and getting the most out of their relationship with outside counsel.

The panel includes Ronald L. Marmer, Jenner & Block LLP; Michelle Coleman Mayes, Allstate Insurance Company; and Jonathan Eisenberg, UBS Financial Services Inc.

Other topics will focus on bet-the-company litigation; attorney-client privilege for in-house counsel; a view from the bench; and corporate governance.

Other speakers include Joyce Slocum, National Public Radio; Lawrence D. Rosenberg, Jones Day; Yvette Ostolaza, Stephen A. Radin, and Arvin Maskin, all of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP; and Steven Tolliver, Aetna, Inc.
