ALI-ABA Looks At Developments In Employment Law At Obama's Mid-Term

The ALI-ABA has planned a three-day seminar, Current Developments in Employment Law: The Obama Years at Mid-Term, in Santa Fe this summer.

It will run from Thursday to Saturday, July 28 to 30, at La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe. Early registration begins on Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and the program begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday and ends at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

This 18-plus-hour course delivers what practitioners need, with engaging presentations by national experts, who will review and analyze the key developments in employment legislation, regulation and case law.

The program features a discussion on Thursday of the Supreme Court's 2010-2011 term by Bob Fitzpatrick, Robert B. Fitzpatrick, PLLC, with commentary by judges Ann Montgomery, Rebecca Pallmeyer and Jerry Smith. Peggy Mastroianni, associate legal counsel, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Frank Morris, Epstein Becker & Green, PC, will talk about the ADA Amendments Act.Also on Thursday, Judge Smith will moderate a discussion about hot topics in federal and state wage and hour litigation, and at the end of the day, the Obama NLRB will be reviewed by Daniel L. Bonnett, Martin & Bonnett PPLC and Sandra R. McCandless, SNR Denton US LLP.

On Friday afternoon, new federal retaliation and whistleblower claims will be covered by Bob Fitzpatrick and Frank Morris, and a panel discussion that covers retaliation and whistleblower case law developments will be moderated by Judge Montgomery. On Friday, ethics and professional responsibility with Judge Grimm will cover the use of company laptops by employees and theft of ESI by departing employees. A discussion of damages in employment law cases and cutting-edge employment law issues will conclude the program.

Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the historic Santiago E. Campos U.S. Courthouse, attend Santa Fe's annual Spanish Market Weekend and enjoy the Santa Fe Opera's summer 2011 season.
