On Thursday, July 22 through Saturday, July 24 the American Law Institute-American Bar Association will explore changes to employment law under the Obama administration.
The seminar will be held at the La Fonda Hotel, 100 East San Francisco Street in Santa Fe.
The events on Thursday begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. On Friday the meetings begin at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 5:30 p.m., and Saturday's sessions run from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Employment law is evolving rapidly in the new administration; this seminar will help practitioners to stay current with the most recent developments in this field.
There will be a program devoted to an examination of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, which will revolutionize compensation litigation and lead to increases in such cases.
Participants will get an analysis of the practical effects of the recently enacted Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Another segment will offer attendees an in-depth look at the employment provisions in the Economic Stimulus Bill, including new COBRA provisions, the Franken Amendment that applies to federal contractors, and the McCaskill whistleblower law that applies to federal contractors receiving stimulus money.
